Processing of SASSA SRD Application
After you submit your R350 SRD application, it goes through several verification checks. SASSA reviews your ID, income status, and banking details by cross-checking them with government databases and your bank institution. Once your eligibility is confirmed, your SASSA application is approved, and payments begin. Eligibility is then reviewed every month before each payment, and your status is updated online so you can keep track of any changes.
SASSA Status Check for R350 Grant
SASSA status check helps you stay informed about your R350 application and grant eligibility. It shows whether your application is pending, approved, or declined, and provides the reason if it is not successful.
To check your status, visit the SASSA status checker at srd.sassa.gov.za and enter your South African ID number and registered cellphone number. Your current status will show your application progress and the outcome of your grant eligibility.
Because the R350 grant is reviewed monthly, it’s important to check your status for each month’s payments. Once your grant is approved, you can check the SASSA payment dates for R350 grant to see the exact schedule for the specific month.
When You Do Not Qualify for the SASSA SRD Grant
SASSA declines SRD applications for specific eligibility reasons. The most common are income in your bank account above R624, receiving another social grant, UIF or NSFAS funding, mismatched personal information, unverified banking details, or failure to verify your identity for the mandatory biometric verification.
How to Appeal for Declined SASSA R350 Application
If your SASSA SRD application is declined, you can appeal for reconsideration. First, check your SASSA online status to see the reason for the decline. Then submit your SASSA appeal through the official portal and provide your reasons using the given menu.
Once submitted, the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) will review your case. If your appeal succeeds, you will receive payments starting from the month your application or reapplication was declined, with the outstanding grant money paid on the next scheduled payment date.
