Card Replacement for Lost SASSA Card

If your SASSA card is lost or stolen, you must immediately report it to the Postbank or the SASSA helpline and request to block your lost card. This ensures your grant funds are protected from unauthorized withdrawals. Once blocked, visit your nearest Postbank card replacement site at participating retailers like Shoprite, Checkers, or Boxer with your South African ID to collect your new card on the spot.

Report Your Lost SASSA Card to Authorities

SASSA and Postbank work together to protect beneficiaries by ensuring card security and preventing fraud. To block your lost card, directly call the SASSA toll‑free helpline at 0800 60 10 11 or the Postbank Fraud & Enquiries line at 0800 53 54 55.

You will be required to provide your details to verify that you are the original applicant.

  • Your full name and surname
  • Your national identity card number
  • Grant application ID (reference number)

Once your identity is confirmed, your request to block your lost SASSA card will take effect immediately. This process will freeze your grant funds, preventing anyone from collecting your monthly grant payments or any unclaimed funds.
