SASSA Reconfirmation Process for SRD Grant

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has made the reconfirmation process mandatory every three months to review and verify individual eligibility. This ensures that existing Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant beneficiaries continue to meet the required criteria and receive their monthly payments without interruption.

You can follow these steps to complete this process online.

1. To reconfirm your SRD Grant, visit the SASSA website at srd.sassa.gov.za.
2. Click on the “Reconfirm Existing Application” button.
3. You’ll be directed to the SRD Reconfirmation page at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reconfirmation/auth
4. Enter your ID and the cellphone number registered with your SRD R370 application.
5. You’ll receive an SMS with a One-Time PIN (OTP) from SASSA.
6. Enter the verification OTP code and proceed to your application details.
7. You can update any changes to your circumstances for up-to-date information.
8. Reconfirm that your personal, contact, and banking details are correct.
9. Click Submit to complete your SRD reconfirmation process.

Once you have confirmed your application and your details are current and accurate, you will continue to receive your approved grant payments monthly.

Check Your SASSA Status for Reconfirmed Application

The SASSA reconfirmation process is basically you declaring that your circumstances have not changed in a way that would make you ineligible.

• Example: Still unemployed, not receiving another social grant.

After you’ve submitted your reconfirmation, you can check your SASSA SRD status online to confirm that your details have been successfully updated.

1. To check your SASSA status, visit srd.sassa.gov.za.
2. Enter your South African ID number and registered cellphone number.
3. Click on the Status button to view your current application status.
4. Your updated application status will show that your reconfirmation was successful.

What Happens If You Fail to Reconfirm Your SRD Grant Application?

SASSA notifies beneficiaries to reconfirm their SRD R350 applications before the scheduled review to ensure that all information is accurate and up to date. If you fail to complete the reconfirmation when required, and your personal or financial details have changed, your application will be rejected. To restore your eligibility, you must submit a SASSA reapplication for the SRD grant and ensure your details are correct before submission.

Appeal for Application Declined After Reconfirmation

If SASSA rejects your application after reconfirmation, you will receive a valid reason for the specific decision. It is your right to appeal within 30 days of receiving the decline notice if you believe an error was made in processing or if you are still eligible.

1. Visit the SASSA appeals page at https://srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals/
2. Click on the “Lodge an Appeal” button to continue.
3. Complete the form and clearly state the reason for your request.
4. Submit and keep monitoring your appeal status online.
5. SASSA will respond within 3 months of submission.

Important Reminder for Beneficiaries

If you have opened a new bank account, you can update your banking details on the SASSA SRD portal to receive your grant directly. It’s important to link an active bank account in your name to ensure smooth and timely payments.

SASSA sends OTP codes only to the registered cellphone number linked to your SRD application. If your number is no longer active, update your cellphone number online to continue receiving your grant and stay verified.
