Update SASSA Application
You can update SASSA application to make any changes to your payment method, account information, or personal details. Updating your SRD R370 application takes only 5 minutes to complete. Simply log in to the online portal, update your details, and save. You’ll only need your active phone number and ID number.
Changes for SRD grant applications are simple; you can update your banking details, phone number, and personal details online. However, for other social grants and more comprehensive changes, you must go to a SASSA office in person.
Update SASSA Application
Before updating your SRD R370 application, collect your current month’s payment, as any changes to your application may delay your grant payment.
- To update your application, visit the SASSA website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za
- On the homepage, select the type of details to update for your SRD application.
- If you choose the “Change Mobile Number” service.
- Enter your 13-digit South African ID and your old registered cellphone number.
- You’ll receive a secure link via SMS from SASSA to change your phone number.
- Enter your new phone number and verify it using the SASSA OTP code.
- To update your bank information, choose the “Change Banking Number” service.
- SASSA will send a secure link to the registered cellphone number.
- Click the link to be taken to a secure page of the authorized SRD website.
- Provide your new bank name, account number, and branch code.
- Ensure your bank account must be registered in your own name and ID.
- Submit your new information to update your SRD application.
- Wait for the SASSA confirmation SMS that your details have been successfully updated.
Update Your Application for Other Social Grants
You can update your social grant application by visiting your closest SASSA office. Unlike the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, which can be updated online, permanent social grants, such as the Older Persons Grant, Foster Child Grant, Disability Grant, Care Dependency Grant, Child Support Grant, Grant in Aid, and War Veterans Grant, require an in-person visit.
Required Documents
- Your active cellphone number that is linked to your SASSA grant application.
- Your South African ID document for identity verification.
- For banking details, your new account number, branch code, and bank name.
If you’re making a specific request, such as a name change or other personal information, the SASSA office may ask for additional supporting documents relevant to your grant application.
What Happens After You Update Your SASSA Application
Once you have updated your SASSA grant application, SASSA will need to verify the new details, which can take 2 to 3 working days to approve your details. During this period, your application status pending until verification is in progress. As soon as your information is verified, your SASSA status will change to “Approved,” and grant payment will be processed in the next month’s payment dates.
How to Confirm Your Application is Updated by SASSA?
After updating your application, SASSA sends a confirmation via email and SMS to notify you that your update was successful. Make sure to check your phone messages for any SASSA notifications. To reconfirm your SRD R350 application online, visit the SASSA portal at srd.sassa.gov.za and click on “Reconfirm Existing Application” to verify your SRD application details.
Important Reminder
Only use your personal details for updates. SASSA does not deposit payments into another person’s bank account or accept someone else’s phone number. You must provide your own registered details, which will be used and verified for your application.
